To spring 1939, the opening-up policy engaged by General MENARD had led to the organization of specialized camps, of which that of SEPTFONDS, being able to accomodate Spanish workmen likely to be reclassified in the French economy.
The CAMP OF SEPTFONDS was supposed capacity to lodge 1500 people, thus relieving the camps of Roussillon. It was also equipped with a hospital known as of evacuation and functioning for several camps.
In February 1941, foreigners considered as nondangerous were gathered there.
