The SUPERVISES STAY CENTER OF SISTERON was established in the citadel lent by the city to the military authority then to the civil authorities.

It sheltered at the beginning political internees who will be joined, during the summer 1942, by begun again justice and procurers.

The living conditions became terrible there, in particular in the field of the supply. About half of the internees, completely exhausted, were transferred to FORT-BARRAUX ; 15 will die there in December 1942 then 13 in January 1943.

In 1944, a hundred prisoners were still in the Camp of SISTERON.
